3 charged in teen's shooting

Javier Torres, 17, shot outside Harris County home

HOUSTON – Three people, including a father and son, were arrested after a 17-year-old was shot and killed in northwest Harris County Saturday morning.

Homicide detectives told Local 2 the shooting happened in the 20400 block of Eagle Nest Falls Court about 3:30 a.m.

According to investigators, 17-year-old Javier Torres was in an argument with another person in a gray Jeep Cherokee when its passenger fired shots.

Detectives said the gunman fired multiple shots from a rifle, hitting and killing the teenager.

Neighbors who live on the street said they heard gunfire and saw cars racing away from the scene.

"They must've had a gun battle out here," resident Royce McGrady said.

Saturday morning, bullet holes were found all along the street; in cars, windshields, lampposts, and roofs.

Sheriff's deputies said their investigation led them to a home on South Abismal, just blocks away from the shooting. The Jeep Cherokee was there, along with the people deputies wanted.

Investigators took three people into custody. James Stilwell and his father, Bradley Stilwell, are charged with murder. Victor Najera was arrested for tampering with evidence. The father and son appeared in magistrate court on Sunday morning. Nejera appeared in court on Sunday afternoon.

Detectives said luckily no one who lived on the street was injured during the shooting.
