HOUSTON – A man and woman were taken to the hospital in serious condition shortly after midnight Sunday after they were hit by a driver near Tuam and Helena.
Police said a man was driving his Fiat westbound on Tuam around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he hit two people crossing the street.
The pair was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
Witnesses said the driver initially fled the scene, but after someone followed him, he turned around and came back. Witnesses kept him there until the police arrived.
The suspect was arrested for drinking while intoxicated.
