GALVESTON COUNTY – Galveston County's medical examiner is out of a job.
County leaders there were caught completely off guard earlier this week when they learned UTMB did not renew the contract of Dr. Stephen Pustilnik, the man in charge of all of the county's autopsies.

UTMB has not provided any information about why Dr. Pustilnik was let go, but county officials are hoping to learn more about the situation next week.
County commissioners appointed Pustilnik to that position, but his salary was paid by UTMB.
