GALVESTON, Texas - Family members of a Galveston man who was found dead near a convenience store dumpster made a plea to the public Friday, hoping someone with information will come forward.

Alan Burdick was a military service member who called Galveston home for the past 14 years. Burdick's brother says he lived on a house boat and was a bit of a wanderer who liked to make new friends.

On April 22, Burdick's body was discovered near a dumpster at a Valero station on Seawall Boulevard. Detectives want to identify and speak with someone named "Tim," who they say was the last person to have contact with Burdick.

Relatives believe a member of Galveston's homeless population could provide police with answers. Dennis Burdick says his brother often made friends with transients on the island.

Police say the circumstances surrounding Burdick's death appear to be suspicious. An autopsy is pending.

Anyone with information should contact the Galveston Police Department at 409-765-3702.
