Woman attacked during home invasion

Deputies: Attackers wore Comcast shirts during robbery

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – Deputies are searching for three men who, they said, attacked a woman inside her home.

Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies said the men invaded a home in the 7400 block of Tetela Drive in Mission Bend about 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Monica Runnels said she had a power outage in her home. She said she saw three men wearing Comcast uniforms standing at her breaker box and she went out to question them.

"I'm like, 'What the heck is going on?'" she said.

Runnels said the men claimed they were there to fix her cable. She went back inside to call Comcast and one of the men followed her inside, she said.

"He done already come in while I had my back turned," Runnels said. "So once I turned around, there he is with a gun in my face."

The me pushed the woman to the ground then demanded cash and keys to her car, officials said.

Runnels said she thinks the men targeted her for the expensive rims on her Dodge Magnum.

She said that one of the men choked her when she started to yell for help.

"I begged him," she said. "I was crying, 'Don't shoot me. Don't kill me, please.' The whole time, the gun is in my head," she said.

Runnels said she broke free and tried to run out the front door. She said one of the men stopped her, but she was able to yell to a neighbor and that scared the men away.

Officials said the suspects may have fled in a red Honda CRV.

Runnels said the men didn't take anything, but they did leave something.

"These fools left their gun," she said.

Runnels said she is planning to sell the rims to avoid a similar incident.

One robber was described as a white or Hispanic man, 30 to 35 years old, about 6 feet tall and 230 pound with black hair. He was last seen wearing a Comcast shirt, blue jeans and possibly a baseball cap.

The second robber was described as a black man, 30 to 35 years old, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 220 pounds with black hair. He was seen wearing black shorts and he had a small silver and black pistol.

The third robber was a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a Comcast shirt, blue jeans and black gloves.

"We are working with the Ft. Bend County Sherriff's Office in their investigation," a Comcast spokesman said.  "As a reminder, all official Comcast technicians are clearly identified not only by their clothing but also by an ID badge and a Comcast branded vehicle."

Anyone with information is asked to call Fort Bend Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
