Teen accused of robbing, assaulting Kroger clerk

SUGAR LAND, Texas – A Sugar Land-area teen has been arrested in connection with a strong-arm robbery case at a Highway 6 fuel center.

Christopher Rafael Letang, 18, is charged with robbery. Additional charges include bond forfeiture, burglary of a vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, Letang entered the Kroger Fuel Center in the 11500 block of Highway 6 on March 2, walked to the counter and got behind a customer who was standing at the cash register.

When the cash register was opened, authorities say, Letang went behind the counter, grabbed the cashier and threw her to the floor. He threatened her with pepper spray, then grabbed cash out of the open register and left the building.

Letang remains in the Fort Bend County Jail. His total bond is $65,000.
