Police: Grandmother assaulted as boy was taken

RICHMOND, Texas – A missing toddler from Richmond has been found safe after a regional Amber Alert was issued late Thursday night, police said.

The Richmond Police Department said 2-year-old Jasper Brashear was found in Chandler, Texas, at his father's home.

Investigators said just after 8:50 p.m., the boy's father, 39-year-old Richard Brashear, and Richard's mother, Sherry Vauhn Hall, approached Jasper's maternal grandmother in the 100 block of Houston Street.

Police said they physically assaulted the boy's maternal grandmother and snatched the child.

Law enforcement in Henderson County were notified the suspects may be headed to the area with the child, and a warrant was issued for Richard Brashear.

Police found all three in Richard Brashear's home.

They said Richard Brashear is now facing kidnapping charges.

Police said Jasper Brashear was was handed over to family members until his mother arrived.

They said the boy's mother has a restraining order against Brashear.
