Kidnapping suspect posts bond, not allowed to leave jail

Kismat Momin accused of kidnapping Amsal Dhuka

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A woman accused of kidnapping a Fort Bend County boy in an act of revenge against her ex-lover posted bond Wednesday, but was not allowed to leave jail.

Kismat Momin, 34, has been charged with kidnapping 9-year-old Amsal Dhuka.

Momin appeared in court for a bond hearing Wednesday. Her attorney argued his client's bond should be lowered due to her financial status.

"The bond was oppressively high, primarily because of the media publicity," attorney Asif Sayani said.

The judge agreed to reduce Momin's bond. However, even after posting bond, Momin was not allowed to leave because Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents want Momin held because she may have violated the terms of her immigration status.

Investigators said Momin wanted to continue to be friends with Dhuka's father after their three-year sexual relationship ended, but Dhuka's mother found out and did not want the family to have anything to do with her.

According to investigators, Momin kidnapped the boy to get revenge for the relationship ending.

"We feel like she was caught up in a complicated domestic situation, and it's unfortunate that she's the one who's being charged," said Sayani.

In convicted, Momin faces up to 10 years behind bars.
