Authorities even went so far as to release a suspect sketch last week

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – You may remember the story Local 2 brought you last week when a woman claimed she was raped by a man in the garage of her Fort Bend County home.

Authorities even went so far as to release a sketch of the male suspect. Now deputies say that after a thorough investigation, the woman has recanted her story and charges are pending against her.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says it determined the alleged sexual assault on Dec. 20, 2013, in the Pheasant Creek subdivision, was a false report made by the woman.

According to deputies, the woman at first said she could not recall specific details about the suspect. After a second interview, she told deputies she could recall the suspect's description and a sketch was completed and sent to the media.

Detectives then discovered that the woman had previously made similar reports to other agencies and they say they noted multiple inconsistencies in her account.

After another interview, detectives said the woman recanted her claim that she had been sexually assaulted.

Charges for making a false report are pending against the woman.
