PEARLAND - Two alleged armed robbers are in custody after leading Pearland police on a chase down Highway 288.

Brazoria County Sheriff's Office deputies say employees reported a woman gathering multiple items, including a TV and other electronics, at the Walmart at FM 518 and Highway 288 early Friday morning. The employees said she had a gun and threatened an employee if she wasn't allowed to leave with the items.

Deputies spotted the suspects and pursued their vehicle for about 20 miles. At one point, deputies say the chase entered onto the TDCJ Darrington Unit property and then back onto FM 521.

The suspects eventually abandoned the pickup truck in the middle of the roadway on FM 521, south of CR 43, with the vehicle still in motion. A foot chase ensued until deputies apprehended the driver and passenger.

The driver was identified as Raymond Lance Bowers. The passenger was identified as Denise Ann Tucker.

Bowers, 24, and Tucker, 30, are currently being held in the Brazoria County Detention Center awaiting arraignment on robbery charges. Investigators say they are currently examining evidence and more charges may be filed in this case.

Authorities have not said what the suspects took from the store.
