It happened around 9:30 p.m. at Keith-Wiess Park on Aldine Westfield off the Hardy Toll Road. Deputies with Harris Co. Sheriff’s Office said that’s where a truck left the roadway after a near head-on collision with a Chevy Malibu.

Only the driver, described as an unidentified woman, was inside the Chevy, who died at the scene. The truck, however, carried a family of four: a husband, wife, and two children. Officers took the four to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s unclear exactly how the crash happened, but witnesses told investigators the driver in the Chevy Malibu appeared to have gone into oncoming traffic without headlights before hitting the truck.

No additional details have been shared, but deputies are mapping out the scene and trying to piece together everything before the case is sent to the district attorney’s office.
