Suspect charged several months after man shot, killed during argument in Westchase motel parking lot, HPD says

HOUSTON – Charges have been filed against a suspect wanted in the fatal shooting of a man at a motel parking lot on May 27, 2022.

Charles Hamlin, 28, has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Andre Garner, 32.

According to Houston police, patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a motel parking lot in the 2900 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway South around 10:15 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Garner lying unresponsive on a sidewalk.

Garner had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators determined Garner and Hamlin were arguing when he pulled out a gun, shot Garner and then fled on foot, according to HPD.

Further investigation identified Hamlin as the suspect in this case and he was arrested on Jan. 11.
