Man shot, killed during ‘narcotics transaction’ in northeast Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON – An investigation is underway after a man was shot and killed during a “narcotics transaction” in northeast Houston Sunday, officers with the Houston Police Department said.

HPD units responded to reports of a shooting in the 8800 block of Laura Koppe Road around 9:33 p.m.

Police said when they arrived at the scene, they located a Nissan Altima that was stopped in a driveway and found a man inside the vehicle that had been shot.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency officials with the Houston Fire Department.

According to HPD, it was reported that the shooting may have possibly stemmed from a narcotics transaction between two people that had gone bad. Officers said the disturbance escalated. The suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim, investigators said.

Police said the victim then got into his vehicle and tried to drive away but only made it a few feet away before succumbing to his injuries.

The suspect fled the scene and police don’t have information on who it may be.

The investigation is ongoing.
