The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Ramirez in August 2017 after receiving information that he sexually abused a girl when she was 10 or 11 years old.

A second female also came forward and reported a similar incident she had with Ramirez, claiming that he sexually abused her when she was 12 years old, according to the sheriff’s office.

During his trial in December, one of the victims testified that Ramirez made sexual contact with her several times while he temporarily lived on the same property as her home, according to the release. The second victim also testified that Ramirez also sexually abused her several times during a week she spent at his home while her mother was out of the country.

Ramirez was found guilty by the jury for both charges.

Ramirez testified at his hearing and maintained his innocence, accusing the children of lying and asserting that their parents were conspiring against him.

Prosecutor said Ramirez continues to show no remorse for his crimes and instead used that opportunity to take one last parting shot at his victims.

He was formally sentenced Thursday to seven years in prison on each charge of indecency with a child. The sentences run concurrently.

Ramirez must serve one-half of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole. The Galveston County Criminal District Attorney commends the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office for their work in this case.
