Human skeletal remains found in front of home in NE Houston, HPD says

Investigators are working to determine how the skeletal remains were placed in front of the home.

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after human skeletal remains were found in front of a home in northeast Houston.

Homicide detectives found the human remains along the road in the 9900 block of Valley Lake Drive near Tidwell around 12 p.m.

According to HPD Lt. Larry Crowson, part of what is believed to be a human skull was found in between two homes on Valley Lake Drive.

A neighbor named Rodney who lives at one of the homes where police say the skull was found told KPRC 2 he is the person who called the police.

“I thought it was a dead squirrel, but when I got closer then I (saw that it) was that skull,” Rodney said.

Investigators said they are working to determine if the human remains were placed in front of the homes or drug there by some sort of animal.

Crowson added there’s a large field behind the homes where the skeletal remains were found that stretches about a mile long. Investigators are searching the field for any clues.

The skull will now be taken to the Houston Medical Examiner’s Office.
