DAYTON, Texas - The Liberty County Sheriff's Office has put out a stranger danger alert after a teenage girl said she was approached at a bus stop.

The 14-year-old student was waiting for the school bus at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday at Highway 321 and Private Road 684 just north of Dayton.

She said a man driving a small white car pulled up and said he would take her to school.

According to the sheriff's office, the girl said she screamed and ran away from his car, and he attempted to run after her. She said the man had a limp, so she was able to run faster than him and get away.

The girl described the man as a white male with brown hair and a mustache. He was wearing red checkered shirt tucked into his blue jeans. She was not sure about his age.

Liberty County Sheriff Bobby Rader urged parents and students to report any unusual similar events to law enforcement. The sheriff's office is also asking anyone with information about this case to call them at 936-336-4500.
