LEAGUE CITY, Texas - The League City Police Department is providing security at a local biker event, in light of the deadly shootout in Waco.

Every Wednesday night is "Bike Night" at the Quaker Steak and Lube restaurant chain off  Interstate 45.  About 100 to 200 people bring their bikes, listen to live music and enjoy food and games in the back parking lot.

The general manager says they have never had any issues in the past, but because of what recently happened in Waco, for the next few weeks there will be two League City police officers at the Wednesday night event.

"It has opened our eyes to a potential that it could happen, but we haven't seen that here," said General Manager Victor Stevens.  "Obviously our guests and team member safety is first and foremost.

The gatherings usually go until 10 p.m.
