Students at Austin Elementary School in Lamar Consolidated ISD were sent to another school Friday after a power outage in the building.

The electricity went out overnight when a power pole was knocked down.

The students joined in classes at Frost Elementary.
The district issued the following statement:

Due to a power outage at Austin Elementary, all students have been moved to Frost Elementary.
If you have not taken your student to school, you may keep them at home today.

We will update parents with new information as soon as possible.

It was not known what knocked the power pole down.

School officials said all car riders, walkers, bike riders and daycare students (including YMCA students) will depart at 2 p.m. from Frost Elementary and be taken by bus back to Austin Elementary for regular dismissal.

Austin Elementary bus riders will depart by bus from Frost during regular dismissal at 2:40 p.m. and be taken home.
