Law enforcement officials cancel silver alert for 2 missing senior citizens

Constables say couple's car had broken down, have returned home

HOUSTON - The Harris County Precinct 2 Constable's Office says two senior citizens who are both diagnosed with a cognitive impairment were found safe Thursday evening.

Jerry Stanley Fagan and Laverne Rouse Fagan were previously last seen in Houston driving a brown Hyundai Tucson around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Officials believed the senior citizens' disappearance posed a credible threat to their health and safety.

"We've lived here since 79 and they moved here before we did," said Duwaine Skinner, a neighbor. "I know they were going out of town. They asked my neighbor to watch the house while they were gone. They called me because they were leaving too for the weekend. I've been watching both houses. So, I walked over there and there was no body in the police cars."

The Harris County Precinct 2 Constable's Office said a family member was able to get into the couple's bank records and discovered activity north of Austin.

Constables said Thursday night the couple's car had broken down. They were reported safe and have returned home.
