Katy ISD schools lift 'secure mode' after suspects arrested

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas - Two Katy Independent School District schools have lifted their "secure" modes after authorities have taken to men into custody.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says deputies were alerted to a security alarm going off at a home in the 19400 block of Tree Orchard Drive around 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Authorities say Katy ISD was notified about the search and the campuses of Rhoads Elementary and McRoberts Elementary were secured.

"Our students are not in danger nor is the individual being pursued on campus," Katy ISD administrators wrote in a message released to parents. "As a precautionary measure, we have secured our building and are keeping all students inside."

Authorities started searching for the two men in the nearby areas and say some weapons have been recovered.

The sheriff's office says both men were taken into custody around 2:30 p.m.

No other information has been released by police at this time.
