HOUSTON - It may not be London, but we've got our own amazing athletes competing in the AAU Junior Olympics in the Bayou City.

"I'm all about gymnastics and sports," said Alexis Hampton, a Junior Olympian.

Fifteen-thousand little athletes from all over the nation are competing for gold at this year's Junior Olympic Games at the George R. Brown Convention Center.

Local 2 met many gymnasts, who were happy to show off all of their medals.

"My dad said if I got first, second and third, I would get a hundred dollars, and I did," said junior Olympian Elizabeth Street.

They athletes said they loved watching the Fab Five win gold Tuesday night.

"I really like Gabby Douglas' performance," said Street. "She's my favorite."

These pint-sized gymnasts have big Olympic dreams.

"When I watch the Olympics, I picture myself being there," said Street. "I picture myself being there getting a gold medal."

Jaqueline Ondarroa and her parents also hope for gold.

"Yeah, yeah, I really dream that," said Ondarroa. "My parents say I will be in the Olympics one day."

The Junior Olympic Games will take place in Houston through Friday.
