HOUSTON - A judge has decided that a 9-month-old baby that was left abandoned at a Houston fire station by his mother will stay in custody with Child Protective Services for now.

Officials with CPS said they first received a report from the Houston Fire Department that a baby was abandoned outside of HFD Station 39 earlier in August.

DNA test results were back on Thursday for the father of the baby boy.

At a court hearing, the father and a grandmother both expressed interest in taking custody of the baby.

However, a judged decided the boy will remain in CPS custody for now.
