It's official: Rockets introduce Dwight Howard

Houston Rockets sign unrestricted free agent center

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets signed unrestricted free agent center Dwight Howard on Saturday.

The team said Howard, the three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year, inked a four-year max deal with the Rockets.

"Dwight is the biggest free agent acquisition in the history of the Rockets," said Rockets owner Leslie Alexander said in a press release. "His addition puts us in contention. This is good for the city and especially the fans. Fans are going to have a great time this year. This team will be tremendous fun to watch."

The Rockets introduced Howard at a press conference Saturday afternoon at the Toyota Center.

Former Rockets players Hakeem Olajuwon and Yao Ming were in attendance. Current Rocket Chandler Parsons also sat in the crowd.
