HOUSTON - A Houston Independent School District teacher is under fire for allegedly going on an anti-Muslim tirade on Twitter.
The social media site suspended his account and HISD said the incident is under investigation.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations is speaking out about the incident.
The teacher accused of spreading hate speech works at Sterling High School off Martindale Road.
Muslim community leaders said the teacher tweeted racist remarks such as: "Embrace Islam and you embrace death" and "I do not want people who are at war with me in my country."
CAIR officials said they are hoping to meet with the district to review its social media policy and to suggest sensitivity training for staff.
