HOUSTON – A fundraiser for a slain deputy constable is now the subject of an investigation.
Baytown Crawfish Co. hosted a barbecue and crawfish cook-off to raise money for the family of Assistant Chief Deputy Clint Greenwood.

Since the event, someone filed a formal complaint with the Chamber's County Sheriff's Office over how the money was raised and how it was distributed.

Investigators said they're looking into the possibility that some of the money may have been used for personal reasons.
“It’s upsetting that there is a possibility there could be tampering with money. If the organizer claims they are in the clear, please provide correct documentation to law enforcement,” Greenwood’s nephew Andrew Smith said.
The Sheriff's Office has not said exactly who is under investigation.
He said the money problem stems from the cash portion of the event, ticket sales, vendor and outdoor events. Smith said the auction organizer is a separate person and they are not having issues with that individual.
“Our family is grateful for the outpouring of support, but do not want to be taken advantage of in this tragic situation,” Smith said.
