FBI tracking leads in armored car heist

HOUSTON – The FBI says it is working around the clock to track down leads after numerous tips from the public about who may have killed an armored car driver in Houston on Feb. 12.

The bureau won't say how many tips it has received, but it has opened a 24-hour command post at its Houston headquarters to manage and assign the tips that have come in.

Investigators released a still photo taken during the robbery that shows three people in body armor and protective face masks attacking an armored car and killing Alvin Kinney, 60.

The killers got away in a white F-250 truck and have been on the run since. The stolen truck was recovered later by investigators.

The FBI wants more people to call in with tips so it can continue building as strong a case as possible.

FBI spokeswoman Shauna Dunlap said she expects agents will find those responsible.

"It is a danger to have these individuals out there. Remember this is a crime that happened in broad daylight in the Galleria section of town. These brazen individuals were wearing body armor from head to toe. They came ready for a firefight," she said.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Houston's FBI office or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
