A Department of Public Safety trooper was monitoring traffic when a drunk driver rear-ended the troopers SUV, officials said.
According to authorities the trooper was monitoring traffic on the Katy Freeway at 12:30 p.m. when a drunk driver rear-ended the troopers SUV.

The man driving the car was treated for minor injuries and was put through a field sobriety test where it was determined that he was intoxicated, authorities said.
The trooper was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy as a precaution.
