Humble resident helps police in robbery case

Police said the resident followed men and got close enough to snap a photo of one of the suspects

HUMBLE, Texas – An alert Humble resident is the reason police said they may catch five suspected thieves.

However, police need your help identifying one of the men they say robbed an Academy sports store off of FM 1960, on Thursday, June 6.

Police said five men went into the sports store and grabbed items off the shelves to steal.

"They selected back packs and several clothing items, total amounted to $1,000 in merchandise," said Dept. David Scott of the Humble Police Department.

According to officials, they stuffed the clothes into the back packs and took off running. Officials said the thieves ran outside of the store through an emergency exit in the back of the building, had all of the merchandise in their hands and ran to a stolen vehicle parked in the parking lot.

"They were observed by a citizen in a silver Toyota Prius and that vehicle was later found to be stolen out of the north west area of Houston," said Scott.
