HPD: Woman raped after taking offer for ride

HOUSTON - Investigators are searching for two men who sexually assaulted a woman they offered to take to a bus stop.

Houston police said a 27-year-old woman was walking home from a friend's home on Sept. 23. Two men in drove up, stopped and offered to take the woman to a bus stop, investigators said. The woman accepted the offer, police said.

"She was upset. She had gotten into an argument with her friend," Officer Jennifer Kennedy said.

The men drove the woman to the 2100 block of Harrington and sexually assaulted her, detectives said. She was then let out of the car and the men fled northbound on Semmes Street, officials said.

"Just screaming, yelling, hysterical ... no pants on, just a shirt," said a man who saw the woman after the attack.

Both men were Hispanic, police said. One is in his early 40s and 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build with slicked-back dark brown hair, brown eyes and black-ink tattoos on both arms and around one wrist. The second man, who is in the sketch above, is in his 30s, about 5 feet inches tall and heavy-set with a bald head, brown eyes and tattoos on his upper right arm and across his chest. The tattoo on his chest is curved and in Olde English writing.

The vehicle was described as a dark-colored four-door, possibly a 1997 Ford Taurus station wagon. A nearby company's surveillance cameras recorded video of it.

Anyone with information is asked to call the HPD Special Crimes Division at 713-308-1100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
