HOUSTON - A pickup truck was stolen from a home where a man was found dead on his birthday, police said.

Houston police said Eloy Montemayor, 38, had a small party at a home in the 3700 block of Sparks near the Eastex Freeway in northeast Houston on Sunday. Both he and his mother were celebrating their birthdays, which were just a day apart, officials said.

Most of the attendees left before midnight, officials said. A friend who left early Monday morning said two men were still there with Montemayor, police said.

The friend went back to Montemayor's home several hours later and found the door unlocked, investigators said. Montemayor's body was then found on a floor and, police said, he had been beaten to death.

Detectives said they discovered that a pickup had been stolen from the home. It was described as a red, extended-cab 1998 Ford F-150 with Texas license plate No. BLT-1038.

Detailed descriptions of the men Montemayor was last seen with have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
