HPD officers save 2 dogs from busy street

HOUSTON – It's a tale of two dogs and two police officers who were in the right place at the right time to save the day for the pets' owner.

Trump and Cowboy are a pair of West Highland white terriers.

They were nowhere to be found in their home near The Galleria Thursday.

Owner Deborah Fowler said silence was the indicator that something was wrong.

"All of a sudden I was in the back of the house," Fowler said. "I noticed it was really quiet."

The two pups had broken through a window pane and made it down to busy Voss Road near San Felipe.

As Fowler went frantically searching for her pets -- the dogs were spotted in the middle of traffic by officers Lauren Prunty and Diana Bonilla.

They helped corral one pooch and guide the other safely home by following it in their police cruiser.

"When they were down there the officers were telling me the boys were crossing the street and stopping traffic," Fowler said.

The two Houston police officers made a difference for perhaps the happiest dog owner in the city.

"These dogs just mean the world to me," said Fowler. "What could've been the worst moment of my life became the happiest."
