HPD: Man fires gun during robbery at check-cashing store in SW Houston

HOUSTON - The search is on for the man police said robbed and fired his gun at a southwest Houston business Monday morning.

Houston police said it happened at the Check & Go in the 8400 block of Hillcroft at Beechnut around 11:30 a.m. Monday.

Police said the suspect entered the business and fired a shot as a pickup truck was pulling into the parking lot to go to the donut shop next door. The bullet hit the ceiling.

The suspect robbed the business and dropped his gun after running out of the store.

Police said officers recovered the weapon.

Officials said no one was hurt.

Authorities described the suspect as a black man. He was last seen wearing black clothing, a black mask and a red bandana.
