HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating a double shooting that happened in southeast Houston on Saturday.

Police responded to The Villa Fredrick Apartments on Lidstone Street and Hansford at around 11 p.m.

Police said two men were transported to the hospital with gun shot wounds. One man was shot in the leg. The other man was shot in the abdomen.

Residents told police they heard yelling shortly before the shots were fired.

"Oh yeah they were yelling," said resident Charles Dickson. "Glass was broken. Then I heard four shots."

The shooting happened near a pay phone in the parking lot just feet from the apartment complex.

"We have lots of kids here," said resident Leana James. "I've lived here for about six months. The four have been bad."

Initial reports from police indicated the two victims were working on a vehicle. Residents said those involved did not live there.

"They didn't even stay here," said Dickinson. "I guess they were visiting somebody. I had never seen the two."

The victims were transported to the hospital. Police are still searching for the shooter.
