One dead, one hurt in home invasion, police say

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating after two people were shot in southwest Houston on Tuesday.

The incident happened at 4600 Wild Indigo Street around 8:30 p.m.

Officials said a man kicked open the door of an apartment and started shooting at the people inside.

A person inside returned fire, striking the intruder, who collapsed in the parking lot. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The resident was struck one time and was taken to a hospital where he was treated and released.

Witnesses told police at least one more person fled the scene.

Police believe robbery was the motive for the shooting.

Police are continuing their investigation.
