HOUSTON - A man and woman were taken into custody Wednesday night after leading police on a short chase in northeast Houston.

Houston police officers working the crime reduction units were patrolling along Rankin and Ella around 10 p.m. when they ran the license plate of a white Ford Escape. The car was listed as stolen, so officers attempted to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop, police say.

The male driver led police on a short chase eastbound on Rankin to Imperial Valley, where he got pinned in and finally gave up, police say.

Police discovered he had an existing parole warrant and now faces felony evading charges.

The woman in the passenger seat had a probation warrant.

Police found marijuana and methamphetamine in the vehicle.
