HOUSTON - A man has been charged after police say he got into an argument and shot another man at car wash on Houston's south side.

Omar Fareed, 54, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is accused of shooting 26-year-old Joshua Hicks at a car wash in the 3300 block of Old Spanish Trail.

Houston police say the men were washing cars for tips Tuesday evening when Fareed asked Hicks for a towel.

Officials say that prompted an argument and Fareed pulled out a gun.

Fareed shot Hicks several times, according to police.

Hicks was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police say Fareed ran from the scene, but was taken into custody a short time later.

In addition to being charged with aggravated assault, Fareed is charged with felon in possession of a weapon.
