HOUSTON - One of the oldest congregations in Houston will vote this weekend to decide on its future.
The First Presbyterian Church, which is 175 years old, is asking its members to vote on whether to stay affiliated with the national Presbyterian Church USA, or move to a more conservative denomination.
Those pushing for the split say the national organization is more focused on political and social advocacy than sharing the Gospel.
It also allows individual congregations to decide if they will accept gays into the ministry.
The vote will take place on Sunday.
