Houstonians gather to protest outside Planned Parenthood

HOUSTON – Houstonians gathered outside of a Planned Parenthood clinic Saturday to protest the organization, and it is happening all over the country.

In 47 states and more than 300 cities, protesters held signs and prayed outside Planned Parenthood and abortion clinics for a national day of protest.

"We are coming out to hopefully make a difference in a person's life, just to call out to god that he knew us before we were even born," says Jennifer Walker, protester.

They want to cut the organization's federal funding and eventually shut it down. The demonstrations comes after an anti-abortion group, Center for Medical Progress, released several undercover videos, including one from the Gulf Coast clinic here in Houston.

"We are coming together at all the places of Planned Parenthood, the videos that have been released are true acts of what they are doing with these babies," says Beverley Craigen, protestor.

The footage shows two people posing as a tissue procurement company in a meeting with a Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast staff member.

"They have been doing it for years and years and we have known it but we haven't been able to prove it, so we are so glad that these videos have come out and proved it," says Nance Shaw, protester.

Planned Parenthood executives say the organization has done nothing wrong, arguing the videos were unfairly edited.

Members of Congress have called for an investigation into Planned Parenthood in response to those videos.
