Houston swimmers in awe of Olympic competitors

Headline Goes Here

HOUSTON - Missy Franklin is quickly becoming London's swimming sweetheart. She already won gold and she has another shot at it Tuesday night.

Here in the Bayou City, we have our own swimming sensations.

Danielle Yoon and Michael Miller have been swimming since they were 6 years old.

"I've been swimming so long at this point," said Yoon. "It's a part of me."

Yoon won the state swimming championship twice. Miller won a silver at the state championship. His high school swim team also won state.

They spend hours in the pool every day, giving up a lot for their dreams.

"People ask me why I stick with it," said Miller. "I love it. I can't see myself not swimming anymore."

Just like Olympic swimming superstar Missy Franklin, who is taking London by storm, Danielle and Michael are also 17 years old.

"Yeah, that's crazy," said Yoon. "Missy Franklin is able to do that and high school life and keeping it down."

Yoon and Miller are glued to NBC's Olympic coverage. They said they get nervous and tense watching the U.S. team, but are so inspired to see them doing so well. While they both wish they were in the Olympics, representing the U.S. in London right now, they're already making a splash in the swimming world!
