Houston Rockets pay tribute to NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager

HOUSTON – The Houston Rockets pay tribute to the longtime National Basketball Association sideline reporter, Craig Sager after he passed away Thursday after his battle with leukemia. The team wore colorful shirts that remember Sager's fashion style at practice Friday morning.

Craig Sager brought life to the sidelines of the basketball court in his colorful attire and experienced reporting.

But in his last years of life, he also brought attention to a little-known form of cancer, acute myeloid leukemia.

Sager spoke out many times about his struggles with cancer, even during his treatment at MD Anderson in Houston.

Health care workers hope his advocacy in his final years will bring attention to acute myeloid leukemia, one of the most lethal forms of blood cancer.

Members of the leukemia and lymphoma society are praising his legacy for bringing awareness to a disease they said has one of the lowest survival rates, only about 20 percent of people who suffer from AML will live no more than five years after diagnosis.

The Rockets will sell the shirts during their game at the Toyota Center Friday night. All the proceeds will go to the Sager Strong Foundation.
