Houston police chase ends with car in house

2 injured in 7700 block of Long Point

HOUSTON – A police chase ended Tuesday when a car crashed into a northwest Houston home, injuring two people.

Houston police said the officers began chasing a Nissan Altima in the 7700 block of Long Point about 1 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators said the driver was suspected of breaking into cars in the area.

The pursuit ended when that suspect crashed into a house in the 2000 block of Antoine.

A man who was in bed inside the home suffered serious injuries. Family members tell us the man's name is Artemio Pariona and that he became pinned between the car and the wall.

"I went inside and Artemio was pinned down with the bed and the car against the wall and the hallway," said Rachel Villasana, the victim's cousin. "He was in a lot of pain. He's got fractured legs, possibly a fractured back and some bleeding is happening in the lungs."

Pariona's 15 year old daughter, Yvonne, and his wife were also home. The wife was in the back of the house and wasn't injured, the daughter was hurt by some flying debris. Her family said the injuries weren't serious.

The driver of the car was arrested. That person's name has not been released, but police said he went to the hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.

"He could have killed three people in a matter of seconds," said Villasana. "When people are home resting you think you're safe and secure. It's not safe and secure no more."
