Houston drinking water remains safe; some residents asked to conserve, city says

West District, Turkey Creek Wastewater Treatment plants damaged

HOUSTON – The city of Houston is asking for the public's help as officials work to repair wastewater treatment plants that have been damaged by flooding.

Officials said the city's drinking water remains safe, but they are asking residents to conserve water. 

Houston Water’s West District and Turkey Creek wastewater treatment plants have been flooded.

Those plants provide sanitary sewer service to ZIP codes: 77024, 77041, 77043, 77055, 77077, 77079, 77080 and 77094.

Residents in these areas are asked to conserve resources by not flushing or using extra water for showers, baths, laundry, dishes or toilets until further notice.

The city is actively working to repair services. Anyone with questions or concerns can call 311 or visit houstonemergency.org.
