HOUSTON – Houston firefighters on Monday updated the media on their effort to ensure their pay is equal to that of the city’s police force.
Members of the Houston Professional Firefighters Association last month said the group had secured enough signatures to put the issue on the November ballot.
The police union said pay parity would cost the city up to $40 million more for salaries.
On Monday, representatives from the Houston Professional Firefighters Association gave an update on the efforts to make pay equity happen.

Those spearheading the effort are remaining positive.
They said they're just waiting for Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner to confirm the signatures.
With a deadline looming, Turner has not said if he'll sign off.
