HOUSTON – The days of spending several minutes hunting for a parking spot could be a thing of the past for at least a few popular places in the Houston area.
The NRG stadium and Rice Village are getting new parking systems called Sure Spot.
“It allows all the drivers to find available parking spot and also to find their car by pre-assigning parking spots to the driver,” said Sure Spot CEO.
NRG already has the system in place at its parking lots surrounding the stadium. Rice Village and should have it online soon.
The company says, “The Sure Spot laser detectors on the property scan the parking lot and recognize the availability of spaces. The system then sends a detailed navigation route.”
Drivers are able to download the app, reserve a spot ahead of time, and when they arrive at the garage or parking lot, scan the phone, and they’ll be given a spot number within the lot.
If people don't have the app and just show up at the garage or a parking lot with Sure Spot, they can still pay there, and the machine will generate a parking spot number based on available spots at that certain time.
The new parking program is already in place at NRG, and finishing touches are being put on the system at Rice Village.
