HOUSTON – The Houston airports that have been shuttered since southeast Texas was ravaged by catastrophic flooding will reopen Wednesday, according to Mayor Sylvester Turner.
Both George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports were closed as Tropical Storm Harvey moved through the region.
Turner said limited operations will resume at the airports at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
According to a statement on the Houston Airports website, limited domestic airline passenger service will begin at 4 p.m. Full service is expected to begin this weekend.
Passengers were urged to contact their air carrier for specific flight information.

Officials said only ticketed passengers with a confirmed scheduled flight should come to the airport, saying many roads across the city are still unsafe.
Officials for Southwest Airlines, which is hubbed at Hobby Airport, said all flights have been suspended until noon Saturday. They said passengers should check the status of their flight at southwest.com before heading to the airport.
