Repairs taking longer than expected after fire

HOUSTON - Some disappointing news if you're looking to buy a good pie on Thanksgiving.

The House of Pies on Kirby Drive will not be open in time for Thanksgiving.

The company told Local 2 Reporter Mark Boyle that repairs to that restaurant after a devastating fire are not going as fast as they hoped.

They do hope to meet the demand for Thanksgiving at their other location at 6142 Westheimer in west Houston.

The Kirby location, which has been there since 1967, is expected to reopen in time for Christmas.

The Upper Kirby House of Pies was badly damaged in a fire on the night of November 6. The fire caused significant damage to the roof and exterior of the building.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was accidental -- it was electrical.
