A Texas man has been arrested for manslaughter in the death of his 6-month-old daughter.

Investigators say Michael Thedford, 33, was taking care of his three children, ages 5 years, 3 years and six months Tuesday morning. He told police he took the oldest child to day care.

He returned home around 9 a.m. and went to sleep.

"When he awoke around 1 p.m. and discovered he left the child in the vehicle, Thedford went to the vehicle, removed her from the child safety seat in which she had restrained. At this time the child was now unresponsive," according the the arrest warrant.

The warrant also states that Thedford brought the child inside the house and "placed [the] child into the refrigerator for an undetermined length of time prior to calling 911."

Investigators say that he called his wife and placed his daughter into the refrigerator, claiming he left the door open.

Thedford was booked into the Collin County Jail Tuesday afternoon for manslaughter and later released on a $20,000 bond.
