HPD searching for shooter

HOUSTON – A gunman shot a man outside his northwest Houston home on Thursday.

The shooting happened on the steps of the victim's house on South Lane and Wheatley Street at 2:40 a.m. Investigators said Marvin Lucky, 38, had just returned home from a nightclub when he was shot.

"He had left the house late at night to go to an after-hours pool hall to shoot some pool. He was there a couple of hours and apparently arrived home. As he was getting out of his car, someone either followed him or was waiting on him. As he walked up to his door, the incident occurred," said a Houston police officer.3

A neighbor told Local 2 that she heard the gunshots.

"We were sleeping, and I heard some pops, and I told my husband, 'Don't you hear that?' And he said no. And I heard it again. It was pop, and that's when he got up and looked out the window," said the neighbor. "It shocked me because I can't believe how they ambushed him like that."

Police said the suspect fled the scene. Lucky was taken to Ben Taub Hospital in serious condition.

The motive of the shooting is unknown.
