HISD magnet school application deadline approaching

Parents must submit application by Friday

HOUSTON – Time is running out for parents to submit an application if they want their child to attend one of the Houston Independent School District's magnet schools for the 2018-2019 school year.

Parents must submit an application by Friday to be included in the first round of consideration.

HISD anticipates about 25,000 applications in this first phase for just 10,000 spots.

Parents will learn the status of their application on March 22, when results will be available online and also sent by mail. If a child is offered a seat in a program, parents have two weeks to provide proof of residence and sign an entrance agreement.

If a student is placed on a waiting list, parents can monitor changes in application status throughout the summer, at which time they may be able to submit additional applications to programs with available seats.

The 2018-2019 HISD magnet application is available online here. Paper applications can be picked up at all magnet campuses.
