HOUSTON – Both the Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff's Office said they are dealing with an above-average number of threats after the Florida school shooting.
The most recent one was Wednesday morning at KIPP Sharpstown College Prep.
One student wrote in a homework assignment he was going to shoot up the school with an AR-15 rifle -- the same weapon used in the Parkland, Florida school shooting.

Houston school and law enforcement leaders joined forces Wednesday to send a strong message to students.
"You don't joke about shooting people. You don't joke about blowing things up. You don't joke about hurting people," Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo said.Â
Houston police says the department has investigated several threats of school violence in the wake of the shooting in Florida that left 17 people dead.
Officials are encouraging anyone who sees or hears something suspicious to say something.
